The Choice

Before this winter I had never read an Amish Fiction book. Since the first one I read, it is a new genre that I really love. I was excited to get the opportunity to review a brand new Amish fiction series the "Lancaster County Secrets" by Suzanne Woods Fisher. Her first book in the series is titled The Choice.

You will love the main character Carrie Weaver from the beginning of the book. Many choices are made throughout the book that give you an interesting look at the Amish life. This is a great book that will tug at your heartstrings with its story of love and forgiveness. As Carrie's life is turned upside down, what life will she choose? Will she stay with the Amish community that she knows? You will have to check out the book to see what choice she makes. I am so excited to find an author that I have not read before. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Here is a little summary about the book from the publishers:
Lancaster County has always been her home--but where does her heart belong?

One moment Carrie Weaver was looking forward to running away with Lancaster Barnstormers pitcher Solomon Riehl--plans that included leaving the Amish community where they grew up. The next moment she was staring into a future as broken as her heart. Now, Carrie is faced with a choice. But will this opportunity be all she hoped? Or will this decision, this moment in time, change her life forever?

A tender story of love, forgiveness, and looking below the surface, The Choice uncovers the sweet simplicity of the Amish world--and shows that it's never too late to find your way back to God.

Thank you Litfuse for the opportunity to review this book. I was not disappointed! What a great new series!

You can join Suzanne Woods Fisher for a Book Bomb & Author Talk on February 15th at 7pm CST. You can get more info on the Book Bomb here.

I've never read an Amish fiction book either...but this one sounds pretty good -- thanks for the synopsis!

And BTW, I love your post earlier on Jumping Ahead of God -- that one really resonated with me. said...

Nice review!

I also enjoyed “The Choice” and look forward to reading Suzanne Woods Fisher’s next novel.

I thought the plot was great – robust and satisfying – like a flavourful wine. There were twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. There were love triangles, wise old grandmas, wise elders who gave loving counsel, caring sisters, jail birds, guarded secrets, mystery, and sweet, sweet romance. The chemistry between the two main characters was very believable and I enjoyed it immensely.
