Over the last couple of days we have been talking with our girls about Jesus' birth and His lineage. On Sunday night we filled out our family tree and talked about our ancestors. We talked about how our great grandparents came from Sweden and Germany. Pretty soon our middle daughter said, "I come from Aberdeen". (Which is the town that she was born in.) We all laughed.
Later I was thinking about what she said. Years from now, her great grandchildren may be sitting around doing family devotions just like we do and they may talk about their family tree.
We are leaving a legacy for future generations. When I think about the legacy we leave I know that each one of us is playing a part in building our family legacy.
Today I am Unwrapping our family history. The legacy that has already been built by past generations and the legacy we will leave behind.
Most importantly the legacy we are building on Faith in Jesus and the Hope we have in Him.
". . .But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15
Please join me over at Chatting at the Sky with Emily as we Unwrap another beautiful Tuesday.

what a wonderful gift to unwrap! I don't thank God enough for the heritage He's given me.
Now that's a legacy I hope to leave my kids. As they enter their teen years, I need to keep encouraging and reminding them that they don't need to follow the world but Jesus, that's where their hope is at.
I wish I had my family's lineage. I only have bits and pieces that don't really match right now.
What a wonderful legacy/tradition you are giving your girls.
I love geneaology. It's a wonderful journey, finding those who came before.
Such beautiful moments to cherish :)
I have always loved that quote from Joshua. And what a great lesson to share with your young children!
there was a time when the legacies just didn't matter to me... but i sure am glad i have changed my tune! i hope the girls always appreciate this gift...
What a beautiful thing to express to them at this time of year. I pray I'm leaving a legacy to someone! :)
