Wake Up Call from God

Yesterday I wrote about struggling. Then yesterday my husband received a phone call about an old friend that brought me to my knees.

My husband and I spent a lot of time talking about life and our relationships.

You see, he received a phone call about two months ago that he didn't get back to returning. Today, he realizes that he had a friend that needed him and he was "too busy" to reach out to him.

Last week I talked to one of my best friends from High School for the first time in two years. How does that happen?

Why do we let the busyness of life come before the people that mean the most to us?

My husband said to me, "What does it mean when nothing surprises you anymore? Is it really that it doesn't surprise you or does it mean you just don't care?"

Isn't it amazing how with one phone call God can give you a wake up call.

Life doesn't just have to happen. We can make a difference.

Today I am Unwrapping the gift of Friendship. I have been blessed with amazing friends in my life. I am celebrating them today. I have some phone calls to make today, some letters to be written and some relationships to mend.

I am joining Emily at Chatting at the Sky for Tuesdays Unwrapped. You can go and read about other women that are unwrapping the gift of everyday.

Yes. Relationships tend to go by the wayside when we get 'busy' with things. Thanks for the reminder. I have a few cards to write, phone calls to make myself.

It is hard to remember how important friendships and relationships are. I firmly believe that busyness is the enemy's ploy to leave us all disconnected and unaccountable to each other.

I stumbled upon your blog... & was reminded of something I "used to" say all the time. "Realtionships are the only thing that we will take with us to Heaven"
Thanks for the gentle reminder, I needed it today.

Guilty of this, too. Sadly, it's often when something sad happens that I'm jolted into remembering the value of each relationship. I'm working on being more intentional, though, in reaching out, even if it's just a quick, "thinking of you." Great reminder.

Oh man, it's so true. Thanks for unwrapping this gift. I need to remember to be thankful for the amazing friends God has given me.

It's so easy to let time fly by and not reach out to friends. This is definitely something I need to work on!

I just gave you an award over at my blog: http://www.closingtimeblog.com/?p=1520. :)

So true, I get so distracted in my world and don't put the time into other's lives that I should. He did not put us here to live alone though, we are made for community.

I'm *so* bad at this. I can go way to long not contacting friends, thinking it's ok because they haven't contacted me. But that's no excuse I need to be better at this.

I can definitely understand this. Relationships are so important! But I have to say I literally cannot stand the phone! LOL. You email me you'll get me! You call, you might just get the answering machine and then I'll procrastinate picking up the phone to call you back. One thing I can't stand about myself! Busy lives, it's hard to slow down!
