So Long Soda

Well, I am going on my second week of no Soda. It feels great. I had a great week! I had a few really hard workouts and I watched what I ate.

I am so close to my first goal of getting below 150 on the scale. This morning when I stepped on it was 150.2. So I am down 5 pounds since the first of the year! YEAH!!!

I have stepped up my cardio workouts and I am really seeing the results. I have been able to have a couple of cheat meals and still get a little weight off.

I thought it was going to be a tough weekend. We visited both my husband's parents and my parents. This is always tough, because our families always have hard to resist food around. For example, we walked into my mother-in-law's house and a fresh pan of chocolate chip bars were coming out of the oven and there was a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies cooling on the counter. YIKES!

We are 3 months and 3 weeks from our Disney World trip. That is my ultimate goal date. Hopefully after this week I can report getting below the 150 mark. I am looking to see those 40's on the scale.

I am working on a meal plan for the week. It should be a pretty calm week so we should be able to eat at the tale every night and have supper as a family. I will make sure I share any recipes that are a hit for us.

Like I have said since the beginning, I am hoping to see the numbers on the scale continue to dip as I go, but it really isn't about that. It is about getting healthy and getting my family healthy. I feel good about the results we are having so far.

Amy, that is awesome! I know that soda isn't easy to give up either. I've heard of studies where they show that it is addicting, like other habits.

I have a feeling that with your convictions you'll make your goal in no time! Best Wishes!

The no soda thing get soooo much easier after a while. I started that about 7 years ago, and now, I allow myself to have it occasionally. After about 1/3 of a can, I am SICK, and don't want it again for months! Same with desserts. Chips are my weakness! I try to keep natural tortilla chips and salsa around to curb my cravings. Hope this encourages you! Keep it up, you're doing AWESOME!

I've been working out, but they are not "hard workouts" - you have inspired me to kick it up a notch.

*Drooling* about those chocolate chip bars (bars sound better than cookies). Congrats on getting closer to your goal. You are doing extremely well on everything you're doing! Keep it up girl!!

Your pragmatism is admirable, it is about health and not every single number. It is for you and your family. When you are dancing on the 140s real soon I suppose that will be icing on the metaphoric cake. Have a great week and keep up the no soda goal (it is a hard goal for many people).

You are doing an excellent job. Wow. I really haven't been motivated, but I've been trying to drink more water which leaves little room for other drinks. Keep up the good work.
