Mamavation Monday - Baby Steps

Well, I finally got myself back to the gym last week. I had an awesome Monday and then unfortunately I slept wrong on Monday night and my shoulder and neck were killing me the rest of the week.

I did my first day with the EA Sports Active but my shoulder prevented me from doing it the rest of the week. I did do intervals on the treadmill at the gym. I have been avoiding the treadmill due to the pounding on my knee, but it didn't hurt my knee at all and it felt so good.

Fortunately I don't think that the working out portion of my weight loss plan is going to be hard. I love going to the gym. Especially because I am a stay-at-home mom and that is my time away from my girls for the day. :-)

Eating healthy is where I really struggle. This week I posted a menu plan on my Unforgettable Childhood site with healthy main entrees for suppertime. That is my first baby step to eating healthy as a family.

I also need to focus on drinking water this week. I never drink water. To be honest with you, I drink coffee all day long.

I don't have a lot of weight to lose, about 15 pounds. My main focus is getting fit, feeling good and changing our families eating habits. I hope next week I can write about getting off a couple of pounds. I know that there are a lot of women in the Mamavation Campaign that are working to tackle a lot larger weight loss goals. You should go and watch their videos here.

I made a deal with my hubby that when the first 10 pounds comes off I am buying a pair of Earth Footwear Shoes. I have had my eye on them for awhile now and I think that it would be a great reward for accomplishing that goal.

Don't forget to tune into MomTV tonight to watch Mamavation at 10pm EST/9pm CST.

You are doing great already! I still need to have my first workout of the new year! Although we did play soccer yesterday so I guess that counts if my wheezing and shortness of breath are any indication!! LOL

I think you will find that drinking lots of water will really help. I feel so much less bloated when I drink the right amount of water. Im going to check out your menu plan now!

Have a great week!!

I'm excited to hear that your reward for reaching your goal is a non-food one. That's really good!

Good luck in journey! Drinking water: the more you drink, the more you want. You just have to get past that hump...LOL!

Awesome reward! Mine is a great pair of jeans when I can get into a 12. Keep up the good work - and switching from coffee to water will really help how you feel, I'm sure of it! It will suck at first though!

Baby steps are so good! Rather than overwhelming ourselves with lots of big changes, baby steps help make the changes into habits, don't they?

Wish I was a gym person too. We do have exercise equipment at home, but I just don't like to have other people see me sweat. I'm learning to love the endorphin rush though, so I can get over the sweat.

Looking forward to cheering you on!

I like the fact you have a reward set up for yourself. I need to do that, lol. I applaud you for going to the gym, I won't go in (social anxiety or something)so my membership is being wasted. So the wii and walking the neighborhood will be for me right now. Glad you're doing this. Keep up the good work!

I saw Leah say yesterday that coffee increases your metabolism - so that's a good thing. I suck at drinking water too, but today I am giving it my all!

Yay, Amy - great job striking up that deal with your hubs! :D

I wish I loved the gym. Sadly, even though I also stay at home, I don't. But, love the yoga studio - so I totally get what you are saying.

You are definitely better than me. I always talk about it but don't do it! I love the idea of rewarding yourself for getting to your goal!! I will pray for you! xoxo :)
