Mamavation Monday - Follow Along Week #1

It is week one of the new Mamavation Campaign and I am starting fresh along with the new Mamavation moms @LisaSamples and @Frugalfemina.

This last week I got a package in the mail from Amazon. It proved to be my nemesis.

I love to cook and bake. I am working on healthy cooking, but I want to be able to do it in a way that I can still occasionally cook from this amazing cookbook.

Luckily, my Amazon package had two more books that will help me out with my getting healthy mission.

I am giving in and starting a food journal. I know it works, I have done it before. I hope it makes me a little more accountable to what I am eating throughout the day.

One huge accomplishment for me this week. NO POP!!! I did get in some good workouts, but I need to be a little more disciplined with that this week, as well. The trainer that I was going to has not been coming to town so I am going to work on a new workout from a friend this week. I hope that it helps with the weight loss.

I actually gained one pound exactly this week. . .but I am not beating myself up about it. I know where it came from and I am lucky it was just one pound.

It has been difficult to get into a schedule since Christmas. My kids are on their 4th Snow Day today. This South Dakota weather makes weight loss difficult in the wintertime. It is all inside workouts for me.

I am excited to chat with everyone on MomTV tonight at the Mamavation Show. Leah has some great giveaways. You should go and check them out here.

Hope you all have a wonderful week! I will come back here next week with a weight loss! It all starts with today.

Yay, no soda!!! (Tried to type pop, but I just couldn't bring myself to it. Ha!) I can do that at home - but always end up caving when we go out. Good for you!

I'm interested in the biggest loser book - does it have good ideas for snack swaps? As my post said, I could really use that help! I love Pioneer woman too, so I understand it's pull! Congrats on not putting on 15 pounds from it like I would! :D

Great job with the soda! I started a food journal as well....it helps so much! Although yesterday I had a horrible eating day, and I just did not care. I have to snap out of that mind set.

Good luck....next week, you'll lose that 1 pound and a couple extras I am sure!

Hello my beautiful Cousin. I love that you are trying to eat better. I can so relate with the whole weather making it more difficult. The stress alone of having the kids home so much makes me reach for even more Coke (pop not the drug..LOL!) and M&M's. Keep at it. I think a food journal is the best way to be held accountable. My family is trying to cook with out salt so much. This is most difficult since almost all of my favorite cookbooks (like Rachel Ray) have delicious food that is so high in sodium.
Good Luck and congratulations on the no pop. I know I too need to try that but it is so very hard. Good for you that you are working towards that no pop goal.
Sending you hugs.
P.S. I truly hope you are wanting to eat healthier for health and not to loose weight because Girl you know you are not in need of loosing weight. At least I hope you know that. Love you!!

I'm very proud of you for kicking the soda! That was the very first thing I did when I started my weight loss/healthy living journey. And today I barely drink 6 cans per year. Give your body what it needs (Pete Cohen talking) instead of what you think it needs (like sugar, soda, etc.). XXOO

I can't believe how many of us struggle with soda! What does that say about what's in a can of it? Do we really want to know? Great job staying away for it!

Congrats on the Soda free week. And I'm sure that pound will drop off. I'm in Minnesota, so we're stuggling with the weather too. I miss the sun :)
Your doing great so don't let the gloom get you down :)

Woohoo!! yay for no soda!!

You have a wonderful attitude that makes up for a "no progress" week on the scale. You're making positive changes and that's what counts.

Keep it up, Amy!! You're doing great!!

Kicking soda is a huge and important accomplishment! Keep that going, and add one new small thing (maybe a really healthy breakfast choice?) and next week will be just as successful as this one!

Kicking soda is a small step and you will have many that follow. That Pioneer Cookbook looks awesome and could be a fun thing to visit in moderation, but do that down the road. Focus on those baby steps for now, and enjoy the show tonight!

Way to go on having no soda this week! Keep it up! I see you've got lots of new cookbooks, which one would you recommend for the mamavation moms? I love to cook too. I hear you. I live in Chicago and it's snowing right now. Guess we'll just have to get used to working out inside during these kinds of weather.

Because I am an English nut, I just have to post and replace some misspelled words in my post earlier.
I meant to say lose not loose. Wow I really have too much time on my hands.

I also love to cook & bake & am trying to find how I can meld this with healthy living. I think it means that things will need to be in moderation & I'll need to be sure to be moving a lot! WTG kicking pop to the curb! That's a really hard one!
