Playing in the Rain

I am sitting at my mom and dad's kitchen table fifteen minutes before the new day begins drinking in the quiet of the house. My kids and my parents are all fast asleep. The only noise is from the ceiling fan above the table where I sit and the sound of my dad's snore coming from the bedroom.

I am missing my husband as he is finishing up business before he embarks on this new adventure with us. But I am cherishing the familiarity of the home I grew up in. Some things have changed, but so much remains the same.

Over the past few weeks I have been trying to focus on all of the positives of this new chapter in our lives. Trying not to think of the good-byes that will be said.

I could dwell on the stress of selling our house, finding a new house and saying good-bye. But I am cherishing every day of this adventure. I am not going to try to just survive this move, I am going to thrive through it.

If we were at our old home, my children would be running in different directions, I would be busy with obligations of work and church. Instead my three girls played together all day. My older daughters went to softball and picked each other to play catch. We went to the park and the girls played in the rain. We had ice cream and laughed until we cried.

We were just about to get on our bikes and check out our new town when the rain started to fall. We could have headed back into the house and let it end the day. Instead we played in the rain and made more memories.

I had a post all ready to go for today when I looked at the calendar and remembered that today was Tuesday. I love to head over to Chatting at the Sky and read about how "others unwrap the gifts of their day in the midst of the ordinary." ~Emily

I am joining Emily for Tuesdays Unwrapped. Head over and read her post as she unwraps a beautiful memory. Be sure to check out more of the amazing posts shared over at Chatting at the Sky. You will be so glad that you did.

You will have to come back tomorrow when I return with Focus on the Father and my post on The Ultimate Test.

Amy I admire the way you are allowing God to work in your family's lives and enjoy these changes instead of stressing over them! I need to take a leaf out of your book. When you mentioned running in different directions etc I know exactly what you mean. Life gets so busy and we just don't enjoy our families as we should.
Glad you had such a lovely memory filled day.

Just working through all the great Chatting At The Sky submissions. Your thumbnail picture caught my eye, as I saw a snapshot of our family about five years ago. My eldest daughter is 14, next is 10 and third is seven. The time goes by so fast, you are wise to enjoy the moments you have together. We are too, but some days I just wish i could press pause and have them stay my little girls. A wonderful post. Embracing change is so much easier than fighting it.
Take Care,
Dana
