Created for Him

I woke up really early this morning to get some quiet time in with Him.

But as I read in Genesis the story of Adam and Eve, I couldn't get him out of my mind.

It has been a couple of tough months for us. I can see the stress on his face. I can hear the stress in the tone of his voice. I feel helpless most of the time because he is the provider. I am at home just trying to make things run smoothly here.

However today I was stopped in my tracks as I read in Genesis 2:18:

The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone.
I will make a helper suitable for him."

As I sat here thinking about this verse I made a mental list of how I am made to be his helper.
  • I can help him by keeping our home orderly so that when he walks through the door he feels welcome and leave work at work.
  • I can help him by providing healthy meals that nourishes him and fills his belly.
  • I can help him by being financially responsible and only spending on needs instead of wants.
  • I can help him by providing him with love and intimacy that he can only get from me.
  • I can help him by raising our girls to love to Lord and respect him by showing them this through my life.
  • I can help him by rising early to pray for his day and to spend a few moments with him before he leaves for work.
I am created to be his helper. But lately in the passing moments of lunchtime and suppertime I don't feel like I am helping him at all as he eats and goes back to work to finish all that needs to be done.

So this morning as God stirred me awake when I really wanted to stay sleeping, I am going to remember my role as his helper. It was not good for man to be alone. And I love this man.

Hi Amy,

You ask: How are we our husband's helper?

For me, one important way is to value his work by offering words of encouragement and thanks.

Grace and peace to you, Amy.

What great points. I just wrote a blog about reading a verse over and over and getting something new out of it every time. Sounds like you just did that.

Hi Amy! I'm glad that I came by. I dropped by to visit your blog on the recommendation of iFellowship and will now look forward to the blessings of being your newest follower.

I write a lot on my blog about being a help meet. I know, to the very core of my being, that I am my husband's help meet. I am so grateful that God has provided so much help for me in this assignment.

After 7 kids and nearly 18 years of marriage, I've learned many, many things - a lot of them I've learned the hard way!! With lots of little ones, it's easy to let the urgent things push my hubby into the background. He is a very easy going unselfish guy - however, a healthy marriage makes for a happy family. So sometimes the kids have to be told no, you can wait - and see me make my relationship with him a priority.

I'm actually helping my children's future marriages as well as my grandchildren's when I let Christ shine through me in how I treat my husband. God gave such clear guidelines in Scripture as to what our role as women is - why do we feel we have the right to question our Creator? He knows best!

Hi Amy I am your newest follower and I can agree with you 100% on your post. We all as wifes feel this sometime in our marriages. The Lord is always working on us. Letting Him is the key! Thank you for the reminder. I pray for my hubby all day long!! I know by his day when the Lord was working! :)

Hope you will stop by sometime. Would love for you to join us in Thankful THursdays!! hugs

In His love

Thank you for this wonderful post! Sometimes it's so easy to get caught up in the rat race, placing everything above our husbands. They get the leftovers, this is so wrong! So thank you for reminding me!
