To make a long story short, he won me over and I spent Friday packing up the camper and we were off on a little family adventure.
My only request was that we head home right away on Sunday so that I could get some things done. Today I have 14 little girls at my house for a Back to School bash and I was nowhere near ready for all of their little faces to appear at my door.
As we were getting ready to head home we got a phone call that my husband's brother and wife were coming to our house for dinner and a visit. I panicked a little and told myself that everything would be fine. I could get ready for the party later.
I wasn't thinking about the fact that we had my nephew's birthday supper and school pictures for my littlest one that evening.
So by midnight Sunday night, I was feeling a little like this. . .
However, the weekend turned out better than I could have imagined and everything will be fine when my mom gets here and we frantically work until the girls arrive for the party.
Luckily, through the years of party planning I have learned that no one ever realizes how frantic I am before they get here. No one (especially 4-10 year olds) care if my house is not spotless. It is about opening my home and showing them love. It is not about impressing them with my (not so hot) home keeping skills.
So this morning I am taking the time to be thankful for so many blessings.
#61 A date night that included the girls sleeping over at grandma's house.
#62 70% off sale at Michael's.
#63 Swimming on a day that it is too hot to do anything else.
#64 The opportunity to lead Bible Study in a room that have wisdom that I can only hope to gain in life.
#65 Helping my sister with a project (because it seems she is always helping me).
#66 School supply shopping for little girls that I don't even know.
#67 Seeing my girls be silly and laugh out loud.
#68 Realizing that I am not always right.
#69 Surprise visits from family.
#70 Making ABC Crayons until the middle of the night because my girls will think I am a cool mom.

stopping by from the gratitude community. I love your list. My boys and I made rainbow crayons using heart molds - fun stuff. Thanks for sharing.
61, 62 and 70--awesome!
Wish I was there to help you with your party, but I know that you will throw an AMAZING party for those little ones. You always do, and your house will be spotless. I hope they all have a wonderful experience. Love you guys!
Bouncing over from Multitude Mondays.
I'm SURE your kids think you are a cool mom because of your ABC crayons. I remember making crayons with my mom. I'm not sure why I haven't tried it with my daughter yet!
You are a cool mom!!! I'm excited to hear all about the party! Sounds like fun!

so so loving this amy! it's amazing how when we can step back from the craziness and enjoy some down time, how blessed that experience becomes!
and honestly ... my bet is even if you didn't go camping and stayed home, you'd still have been struggling to get it all done ... doesn't it always seem that way?
