The Fog Is Lifted

A fog greeted us as we woke up on Grandpa's Farm Saturday morning. The corn was hidden from our view. The sheds were peaking out from above the fog.

When the fog lifted I started to see beauty all around me. In the tall green grass and the weathered sheds. This old farm has seen many years and many generations.

My girls do not see buildings that need to be painted or swing sets that need to be replaced. Instead they see paths to explore and homes for kittens.

An old playground that brings laughter.

Balance Beams of Broken Wood.

A place where their daddy dreamed and now they can dream, too.

I am so thankful that when the fog lifted, my eyes were open to the beauty of the farm. Next time we visit many of the buildings will be painted and the old wood cleared away. Although a fresh coat of paint will bring newness to the view, the memories of old will always remain.

So beautifully put...memories are so much more than what you can see--it is what remains in your heart. Nice post--

This is beautiful. Such a magical experience--magic in the best sense, of recognizing holiness in the beauty all around. Thanks for sharing.

children always see beyond the grit and weathered to explore, don't they?... what a treasure to have in the family and even though new will replace old, the memories will remain.

what a timely reminder to view life with the expectation of wonder. oh, to have a child's sight and heart again.

Beautiful photos! I love the fog shot! There is something so special about a farm... at least that is how we feel about our family farm. So many years, memories, hard work and love!

Beautiful, Amy! Sometimes I feel so suffocated by suburbia. These pictures make me wish I could whisk us away sometimes.
